Premier Tech Launches Cobot for Packaging and Palletizing

Sept. 30, 2024
This new collaborative robot system combines a Fanuc cobot arm with Premier Tech’s Movn software for configuration and simulation as well as HMI setup and monitoring.

Premier Tech is a Canada-based technology company that recently marked a century of operations. The company offers products and services for smart manufacturing, packaging and palletizing, life sciences and agricultural/horticultural applications.

The newest product line from Premier Tech is its Toma cobot (collaborative robot) system. This cobot system combines a Fanuc CRX-30iA collaborative robot arm with Premier Tech’s Movn software, which powers Premier Tech’s online configurator. Also included is an online operation simulator and HMI. According to Premier Tech, users only have to enter the case dimensions, select the pallet pattern and press start to begin operations.

“No coding, no engineering, no programming and no specialized skills are required,” said Jean Belanger, president and CEO of Premier Tech. The company added that Toma is delivered as “out-of-the-box solution that’s easy to integrate with existing lines and can be up and running within minutes.”

The first Toma product released is the Pal-0830, which features a payload of 25kg, can complete eight cycles per minute and handle pallet heights up to 2m. The Toma cobot system runs on 120V/20A/50-60Hz power with an operating temperature range of 0°C to 35°C. The cobot arm is IP67 rated and the controller enclosure is IP54 rated.

Toma comes with Necton technology integrated, also designed by Premier Tech. Necton allows for quick assessments and adjustments to the cobot’s performance based on real-time actionable insights it provides to help optimize output.
