Fixed-mount Barcode Reader

June 1, 2011
DataMan fixed-mount barcode reader is powered by a proprietary vision chip called Cognex VSoC, which the company says gives it unmatched barcode reading performance and an ease-of-use.

Unit reportedly reads barcodes at twice the speed of other readers and doesn’t have to be positioned optimally to achieve high read rates. Reader uses the company’s 1DMax and 2DMax code reading technology while the VSoC technology reads up to 90 decodes per second and performs image acquisition with auto-exposure at up to 1,000 frames per second. To achieve greater depth of field, flexible lens options and field interchangeable lighting are available. Communication capabilities include EtherNet/IP and Profinet; no host PC is required to translate data to a PLC or central network.
