Coesia Expands Packaging Machinery with Robotics and Vision

Sept. 19, 2024
Via a strategic partnership with PWR Pack, Coesia plans to provide full line automated packaging systems in Europe, Australia and North America.
Coesia, an Italy-based supplier of industrial packaging equipment, has acquired a minority share in PWR (Packaging with Robots) Pack, a U.K.-based supplier of robotic packaging systems for the food industry. This partnership will enable Coesia to expand its equipment portfolio to include full-line automated packaging systems using robotics and vision systems to improve productivity and flexibility in complex production environments.

PWR Pack’s large multi-robot lines with vision systems and pick-and-place technology has been targeted toward the bakery, confectionery, snacks and pet food markets. Though PWR has historically focused on markets in Europe and Australia, Alessandro Parimbelli, CEO of Coesia, said Coesia and PWR Pack will “present themselves in the North American market as one supplier and will leverage each other’s experience in automation to offer turnkey solutions. We can combine, for example, PWR Pack's advanced robotics pick-and-place technology with Coesia's state-of-the-art packaging machines, creating a seamless and highly efficient solution.”

He added that PWR will join Coesia companies ACMA, Volpak, FlexLink and the U.S. based company R.A Jones, bringing the potential for expansion into the personal care and e-commerce sectors. “All together, we aim to provide a full innovative line and integrated packaging solutions across various industries for the North American market in the upcoming months,” said Parimbelli.

Regarding how Coesia and PWR Pack will approach the North American market specifically, Parimbelli said, “R.A Jones will lead and coordinate the sales efforts in North America. The plan for training service engineers is already underway and all support will be coordinated by the dedicated service team at R.A Jones.”
