Line Confocal Imaging Sensors

Jan. 29, 2019
The LCI401 and LCI1201 from FocalSpec are smaller and lighter than their predecessors with greater environmental tolerance (IP55) and are specifically designed to meet the needs of system integration.

Aimed at high speed characterization and inspection of clear and highly reflective parts and surfaces in high-resolution QC and R&D surface imaging and metrology applications, the sensors are based on the company’s patented Line Confocal Imaging technology that combines 3D topography, tomography and 2D grayscale intensity into one sensor which enables high-speed 3D imaging of surfaces that are difficult or impossible to measure with other currently available methods. The sensors provide sub-micron precision, detection speed of up to 10 million 3D points/second and are suitable for the most demanding products including mirror-like, shiny, glossy and transparent materials. Applications include 3D dimensions, surface roughness, step height, width, gap & offset, burr height and more. With the 3D Line Confocal Scanner UULA, it is possible to use the same technology in manufacturing facilities as well as R&D and metrology laboratories.
