Bosch Rexroth Acquires Nyquist BV

Nov. 16, 2005
Acquisition of the Dutch motion control supplier is said to provide Bosch Rexroth complete motion control capability for the semiconductor and medical manufacturing markets.

Bosch Rexroth, the Lohr, Germany-based drive and control supplier, says it has acquired Nyquist BV, a Dutch provider of industrial motion and control products designed specifically for the semiconductor and medical manufacturing industries.

According to Bosch Rexroth, the acquisition provides the company the ability to supply complete motion control solutions for the semiconductor and medical manufacturing markets, two industries that are typically served by companies offering only individual components.

“We’ve acquired what we need to aggressively address the semiconductor and medical markets,” says Wolfgang Dangel, president and chief executive officer for Bosch Rexroth in North America. “We’ve already established ourselves in these segments an excellent supplier of linear motion and pneumatic systems. This acquisition gives us another strong product line in the electric drives and controls group, and allows us to offer drive and control expertise across all technologies.”

Dangel expects to see strong growth in the semiconductor original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and medical manufacturing markets due to an increasing tendency for machine builders to outsource their motion control needs. Dangel adds that Nyquist has a solid reputation in the motion control arena since becoming fully independent from the Phillips Co. in 1998. Nyquists’ product portfolio is used by a broad base of customers worldwide. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
