AutomationDirect Proximity Sensors

AutomationDirect has added the new AchieVe series of inductive proximity sensors. These tubular inductive proximity sensors made from stainless steel are offered in 8 mm, 12 mm and 18 mm barrel sizes. Flush and non-flush mount styles offer a range of sensing distances up to 8 mm. Both PNP and NPN logic models are available, and all have a N.O. output. Connection options include an M12 Q/D connector for 12 mm and 18 mm models, an M8 Q/D connector for 8 mm models and a 2-meter pigtail cable style available for select PNP logic models. The new AchieVe series inductive proximity sensors start at $13.00, have an IP67 rating and come with a lifetime warranty.

Galco Discrete Sensor

Balluff's BGL0016 fork sensor is engineered for precise object detection with a compact 10x50x68 mm housing and a 30 mm fork opening. Using a divergent LED red light through-beam operation, this sensor delivers reliable performance with a Ø 1.2 mm light spot. The PNP NO/NC interface ensures flexible integration, while the rugged zinc die-cast housing and glass sensing surface offer durability. With an operating voltage of 10-30V DC and IP67 protection, this sensor is CE, UKCA and cULus approved.

Keyence Level Sensor

The FR Series radar level sensor from Keyence uses radar technology to detect the level of liquids and powders in any tank. This allows the sensor to be non-contact and stable in any environment. Detection stability is enhanced by the new Tracking and Adapt functions. The FR Series level sensor features large, customizable, 360 degree indicator lights and its display can be integrated or mounted separately. Both short- and long-range models are available with up to 15 m of measuring range. Outdoor models are available as well as brackets for various installation requirements.

Omron Photoelectric Sensor

The E3T are ultra-thin, subminiature photoelectric sensors that feature built-in amplifiers in plastic housing. Key features include: high EMC and ambient light immunity, high visibility output indicators, one-chip photo IC and an IP67 rating to withstand 1200 psi water washdown. The side view model dimensions are 18.5x7x9.5 mm while the flat model measures 19x12x3.5 mm. The coaxial optics and the small focal lens of the retro-reflective models allow detection of small objects and detection through 2 mm diameter holes. The E3T’s light-receiving lens shape and the new chip-mounting technology provide appropriate sensing distances for precise detection through small slits or gaps with 0.5 mm diameter. All models have M2 or M3 mounting holes built-in.

Pepperl+Fuchs Inductive Sensors

The F104M Pile Driver sensor offers a cubical design measuring 32x20x8 mm with a 6 mm sensing range. Compared to standard cylindrical Pile Drive models, the low-profile surface mount types are designed to fit in tight mounting spaces. Inductive sensors have a very short sensing range and are thus inherently subject to sensor-to-target contact. The Pile Driver’s stainless steel sensing face is designed to survive the inevitable impacts and abrasion, as well as contact with aggressive chemicals. The Pile Driver offers 20% more sensing distance than a traditional proximity sensor, while requiring only 1/10 the mounting space. Dedicated FE and NFE models detect steel or aluminum at full range.

Sick Photoelectric Sensor

The W10 photoelectric sensor boasts the title of the world's first touchscreen user interface for sensor setup. The touch screen display provides guidance to the user and preconfigured set points are available for a power up and go option. User selectable modes provide a total sensing range of 25  mm to >600mm with a repeatability error below 3% at maximum distance. Also included is a speed mode with response times of less than 2 ms. The W10 also addresses security concerns with its button-free interface and lockout ability. The sensor has a variety of operating modes and configurations and is IP69K rated.
