Growing-green: UC-Davis is using operational-data to reach net-zero emissions goals by 2025
The University of California (UC) system decided to take decisive action against climate change, committing in 2013 to reduce carbon emissions across its campuses. UC Davis, a prominent research institution within the system, set an ambitious target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2025.
This challenging goal tasked the university’s operations and sustainability teams with retrofitting aging campus infrastructure, including updating HVAC systems, enhancing insulation, and automating lighting. Despite these efforts, more was needed to meet the carbon neutrality goal. With the use of a real-time operational data platform to monitor and manage sustainability metrics, UC Davis’s carbon-neutral vision was turned into reality.
