ABB and Mettler Toledo partner to advance automated laboratory processes

March 8, 2024
ABB and Mettler Toledo are showcasing their automation capabilities and software at the SLAS2024 International Conference and Exhibition, with ABB unveiling a new robotic cell and Mettler Toledo highlighting analytical instruments and LabX software.

A new collaboration between ABB Robotics and Mettler Toledo, as outlined in recently signed memorandum of understanding, focuses on integrating ABB robots with Mettler Toledo’s LabX laboratory instrument management software, Control Design reported.

This integration aims to enhance efficiency and quality in automated laboratory workflows across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food and beverage, semiconductors and batteries.

By combining ABB robots with LabX software, the partnership seeks to optimize productivity, reduce errors and fulfill data quality and regulatory requirements, ultimately providing scientists and lab technicians with more time for higher-value activities such as data analytics.

Through seamless integration of LabX software into ABB’s OmniCore robot controllers, customers can expect increased automation, speed and insights while reducing costs. This collaboration aligns with ABB’s broader strategy to extend automation benefits to new sectors globally, demonstrated through initiatives like the Life Sciences and Healthcare lab in Houston and the Open Innovation Lab in Shanghai.
