Quick, Compact Midrange Robot

Feb. 2, 2011
The IRB 2600 is the latest model in the vendor’s “fourth generation” of medium-capacity multipurpose robots. Featuring payloads up to 20kg, the IRB 2600 offers the best accuracy and speed in its class, according to the vendor.
With its compact and lightweight design—total arm weight is less than 300kg—the IRB 2600 is also said to occupy less floor space than any robot in its class. Features include flexible mounting—floor-, wall-, invert- or shelf-mounted—with wall-mounting billed as a new possibility for a robot of this size. High joint speeds and quick acceleration are achieved by combining new lightweight mechanical linkages and patented second generation QuickMove motion control technology, improving production cycle times by up to 25 percent. The IRB 2600 family contains three versions: two short arm variants (1.65m) for 12 or 20kg payloads, and a long arm variant (1.85m) with a 12kg payload. With the wrist vertical, up to a 27kg payload is achievable for pick-and-place packaging applications.ABB Robotics
