Inductive Automation announces the release of its OPC-UA server, called Ignition OPC-UA, and it comes with a great price tag: Free. The OPC-UA server, Ignition OPC-UA, was built as part of the company’s most recent release, Ignition by Inductive Automation™. The UA server features an independently developed software stack that was successfully tested at a major interoperability workshop. The free server, Ignition OPC-UA, can be used by itself or in conjunction with the rest of the software platform.
The server also enables cross platform capability for both Windows and Linux, allowing users to take advantage of Linux’s security, stability and cost. “With the operating system wars moving into high gear and with the recent widespread adoption of OPC-UA by major software vendors, there was no other choice than to develop a fully cross-platform OPC-UA based solution,” says Steve Hechtman, president, Inductive Automation. The company offers a variety of drivers and an open driver API with the server. It can be downloaded here,
