Schmersal is proud to announce the release of our latest RFID-based electronic safety sensor, the compact RSS260, designed for application in safety circuits of hinged, sliding or removable safety guards.

For mounting flexibility, the series is available with three different actuator types: a standard actuator (RST-260-1), a very flat, elongated actuator (RST-16-1), and an extremely compact rectangular target (RST-U-1). The RSS260 sensor will accept any of these target actuators from two approach directions.

The RSS260 features an LED status indicator, optional serial diagnostics, and optional individual coding of actuators. Because of an integrated dual monitoring microprocessor, only one switch is required to meet PLe per ISO 13849-1 and SIL3 per IEC 62061. The RSS260 can be connected in series with other electronic safety sensors and locking switches, up to 31 devices, without loss of signal or safety level.

Schmersal is a world-class designer and manufacturer of machine safety products, industrial switches, position sensors, and related control accessories that meet the new and emerging machine guarding safety requirements of OSHA, ANSI, Robotic Industries Association, and the European Machinery Directive. The company was founded in 1945 and is headquartered in Germany. Schmersal products are available at more than 120 stocking distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada, with additional sales offices and distributors in over 22 countries.
