Bremen Castings, Inc. acquired and installed two Fanuc R200A (6-axle) robotic grinding arms in 2011. This has significantly increased Bremen’s consistency and standard hours of operations using automatic grinding. Due to its success Bremen has released a P.O. for another four robotic arms.
After the project is completed, the three robotic cells will include six Fanuc R200A robots and four different grinders in each cell. The operator loads castings onto a belt which feeds into the robotic cell. The robots grind the parts and place them into a container.
The primary focus of these machines is to grind heavier parts which will help reduce operator fatigue. Bremen Castings, Inc. is currently working on fitting all castings to the specifications that Fanuc requires to increase efficiency, consistency and on-time delivery for the customer. President JB Brown notes, “Safety if our first priority so it is essential that we protect our employees first and foremost. This new equipment not only adds a new level of safety but it also increases productivity. We are very excited to have this fully-installed in our foundry.”
