Averna, an industry-leading developer of test solutions and services for communications and electronics device-makers worldwide, announced it has received Frost & Sullivan’s 2015 Global DOCSIS Cable Networks New Product Innovation Award for its pioneering DOCSIS 3.1 protocol analysis solution.

According to Frost & Sullivan, a leading global growth consulting firm, Averna has emerged as a leader in the cable network market with the launch of its DP-1000 DOCSIS 3.1 Protocol Analyzer. The DP-1000 provides exceptional visibility into the media access control (MAC) layer on cable networks, enabling multiple system operators (MSOs), chipset manufacturers, product developers and certifications bodies to quickly find and correct trouble spots in order to maintain the highest quality of service possible.

“By pioneering its DOCSIS 3.1 Protocol Analyzer solution, Averna has set a high standard for the industry and leads from the front,” said Frost & Sullivan Program Manager Sujan Sami. “Averna’s customers now have the ability to ensure the smooth functioning of their networks, along with state-of-the-art, real-time troubleshooting tools. Averna not only provides innovative and reliable products, but also delivers top-notch after-sale and customer support services.”

“We are very pleased that Frost & Sullivan has recognized Averna’s accomplishments in the successful development and commercialization of our fully equipped DOCSIS 3.1 Protocol Analyzer solution,” commented Alex Pelland, Director of Broadband Test Strategy for Averna. “The DP-1000 is a great addition to our DOCSIS 3.1 solutions portfolio, strengthening our brand and increasing our global presence. We are proud to offer our customers the best DOCSIS 3.1 test solutions in the industry.”

About the DP-1000 DOCSIS Protocol Analyzer
Developed with major industry players, the Averna DP-1000 DOCSIS Protocol Analyzer is used to analyze, debug, maintain and monitor local networks and Internet connections. The innovative DP-1000 supports DOCSIS 3.1 and, in an industry first, the DOCSIS 3.0 standard as well.

Optimized for real-time signal processing with field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology, the DP-1000 analyzes up to 32x8 single or bonded US/DS channels (DOCSIS 3.0) and 2x1 OFDM US/DS channels (DOCSIS 3.1), and includes numerous channel-filtering, demodulation, triggering, display, and upgrade features.

As a passive sniffer between CMTS and CPE devices, the DP-1000 silently captures and filters DOCSIS MAC-layer data in real time to verify RF parameters, validate MAC-level communication, troubleshoot interoperability issues, and improve network performance.

DP-1000 Highlights

  • Supports both DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 protocols through FPGA-based signal processing
  • Input DS frequency range of 5 MHz–1.8 GHz (5–200 MHz US), and resolution of 1 MHz
  • Up to seven acquisition cards of 200-MHz bandwidth each (five DS, one US and one additional US or DS)
  • Contained in a single, 19-inch (48 cm), 4U rack for minimal footprint (60 lbs/27 kg)
  • FPGA-based architecture is highly flexible, configurable, upgradable and extendable
  • Many channel-filtering and display features like placement, burst, constellation, and spectrum
  • Optional DOCSIS vector signal analyzer (VSA) for RF measurements like SNR, MER, and EVM
