Industrial automation manufacturer Opto 22 has named Matt Newton as Director of Technical Marketing.
Industrial automation manufacturer Opto 22 has named Matt Newton as Director of Technical Marketing. In his new role within the company’s Marketing group, Newton will lead creation of useful and engaging customer content, discover and highlight Opto 22 customer applications, and work closely with industrial automation media outlets. “This new position is a great fit for my background and skillset,” says Newton. “It really builds on the customer-facing work I’ve done, and gives me an opportunity to present Opto's unique approach to solving IT and OT convergence challenges."
Newton comes to the new Marketing role after serving as Opto 22 Regional Sales Manager, where he focused on Internet of Things (IoT) and M2M-based automation applications. In this role Newton worked closely with Opto 22 customers to plan, develop, and implement diverse control and automation applications ranging from semiconductor tooling to oil and gas process automation. Newton also helped to establish Opto 22’s groov mobile operator interface in renewable energy markets.
Prior to joining Opto 22, Newton gained extensive experience in wired and wireless networking with several device networking companies, including device server pioneer Lantronix.
