HIMA selected for its "out-of-box" SIL 3 system, global support for LNG plant in Australia

HIMA burner management systems (BMS) designed to protect three steam generators at INPEX LNG facilities near Darwin, in Australia's Northern Territory, have been delivered to Amec Foster Wheeler, which designs, delivers and maintains strategic and complex assets for its customers across the global energy and related sectors.

Based on redundant HIMax systems, the three HIMA BMS units (six CPUs) will be interconnected with a distributed control system (DCS) via the Modbus interface. Each of the HIMA systems includes 350 I/Os, for a total of 1,050 I/Os.

HIMA is providing BMS design, engineering and integration from the office in Houston, Texas, while commissioning and additional services will be delivered by local HIMA professionals in Australia. This collaboration enabled Amec Foster Wheeler to receive the BMS units faster than otherwise would have been possible. Commissioning of the system is expected to take place in 2017.

BMS application programming is accelerated with the HIMA SILworX programming tool and TÜV-tested and -approved function blocks. Copy-and-paste programming reduces application errors and speeds up the engineering process.
