Capable of measuring ranges up to 50 ft and temperatures between -4°F and 140°F, the Micropilot FWR30 from Endress+Hauser is a cloud-connected, 80 GHz wireless Industrial Internet of Things sensor with an integrated SIM card. The SIM card allows users to remotely access the sensor’s continuously recorded measurement data.
According to Endress+Hauser, this device is the world’s first 80GHz wireless sensor. It can be used for level measurement, inventory management of mobile and stationary plastic tanks, and the tracking of mobile storage tanks. The sensor is resistant to corrosion, abrasion, viscosity, and toxicity. Because radar level sensors are non-contact measurement devices, the sensor can be used to measure any liquid media.
In addition to level measurement data, information on the location of storage tanks and containers can be accessed via the cellular communication systems built into the sensor to guide logistics and storage processes decisions.
According to Endress+Hauser, installation of this plug-and-play sensor can be done in less than three minutes. The integrated battery allows operation without an external power supply, which can be advantageous for measuring points that are difficult to access.
