RFID for easy user identification

Feb. 2, 2011
The continuous integration of RFID in the field of automation makes it easy to link machine and system terminals in the logistics, production tracing and industrial IT structures.

Most BDE and access systems are based on the 13.56 MHz RFID system, which means that B&R's latest RFID innovation is compatible with ISO 14443 and ISO 15693. This enables easy user identification at the control unit. Particularly in the field of machine and systems manufacturing, fast and secure user identification on the user interface ensures the highest level of security. Users simply have to hold their tag or user ID up to the device for identification. The distance limitation of just a few centimeters from the read/write unit helps prevent unintentional identification of an employee who might be simply passing by.

Up to IP69K protection thanks to easy integration

The compact design and prefabricated USB cable allow a protection level of up to IP69K. This eliminates the need for additional protective covers, making any later installations much easier.

The RFID units can be flexibly installed and easily integrated in a switching cabinet door or operating unit housing using a 22.5 mm standard cutout. While this installation already ensures all-around IP65 protection as a standard feature, users benefit from the hygenic design and high protection level up to IP69K thanks to the seamless integration of RFID modules in the B&R operating units. B&R provides user identification systems with outstanding reliability, even for industries with the highest hygenic requirements, such as beverages, pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs.
