Safety I/O Modules Upgraded

Oct. 2, 2010
The performance capabilities of the vendor’s ET series of fail-safe modules for the Simatic ET 200M I/O station have been increased, including the addition of Profinet capabilities.
With the upgrade, the new modules (ET 200M 24 F-DI, ET 200M 8 F-DO and ET 200M 10 F-DO) are now able to meet the requirements of the safety levels SIL 3/Cat. 4 and PL e in mixed operation with standard modules, without the need of a safety protector. The new modules are equipped with Profisafe-Profil 2.0, which enables them to be used in Profinet networks in connection with PN/DP couplers. Additional improvements include the ability to send an acknowledgement following a voltage drop. Each new module also comes with the “last valid” function, which provides the last valid state, and “energize to trip” functions to provide the last value.Siemens Industry Inc.www.usa.siemens.com800.879.8079
