As the latest in the vendor’s Anybus Communicator line of intelligent protocol converters, the Anybus Communicator for Profinet connects automation devices with a serial interface (RS-232/422/485) to Profinet.
Designed as a compact device for standard DIN rail mounting, the Communicator operates as a Profinet I/O device on the Profinet network. It supports serial signal levels up to 57kbit/s. One Anybus Communicator is needed to connect one field device with an RS-232 interface to Profinet, while up to 31 automation devices using RS-485 interface can be connected via one Communicator to Profinet.
