Managed Ethernet Switches

April 1, 2006
A line of 8-, 16- and 24-port copper/fiber Managed Ethernet switches are equipped with a full range of standard features designed to enable comprehensive visibility into industrial Ethernet networks.

The switches generate statistics such as data rate, throughput and the number of error frames being received. This status information is available through a Web browser. The switches also feature the thinnest form factor along a DIN rail, at 45mm, says the vendor. Each Managed Ethernet switch supports SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which allows communications with network switches in a standardized way in order to request status information and set configuration. The switches also feature RapidRing Redundancy; if there is a break in an Ethernet ring, the switches identify an alternate path for the signal and re-establish traffic within less than 300 milliseconds.
