The lab is used for practical lessons in Industrial Computing, Computer Networking, Industrial Systems, Supervisory Systems, Integration and Systems Evaluation disciplines.According to Prof. Márcio José da Silva, the principal initiator of the agreement with Siemens, the objective of the partnership was the purchase of innovative and high technology industrial automation equipment used in industrial applications, with viable and attractive conditions for an educational institution. “Our goal is to create at PUC Minas one of the largest and most modern university automation laboratories in Latin America, making it a benchmark in terms of technology and automation, allowing training of teachers in the technologies, in order to spread automation knowledge,” said Silva.
Cooperation“Siemens regards this type of partnership with educational institutions in the industrial automation area as an opportunity to cooperate with educational institutions—in particular, PUC Minas, one of the most renowned in the market,” said Mauricio Barbarulo,
Siemens Brazil (

As a result, it has the potential to produce knowledge that is only possible with the sum of efforts in a common sense way, and with the clear objective to foster technological development in a country lacking in knowledge and talent, especially in the engineering sector,” concluded Carlos Eduardo Boechat Muniz Filho, automation business developer at Siemens Brazil.
