Underwriters Laboratories (UL) invited journalists to the ceremony opening a new UL Centre of Excellence. This global independent safety science company says the entire facility is dedicated to safety and energy efficiency in lighting technologies.

Located in Burago, in the province of Monza Brianza near Milan, it will act as hub for all Europe. The laboratory covers an area of 3,000 square meters for a total investment of over 2 million dollars, employing 30 people.

“The inauguration of this laboratory further strengthens UL’s global leadership in the lighting industry and in energy efficiency, expanding its presence in Europe where it is the first centre of excellence of this kind there,” said Alberto Uggetti, vice president and global general manager of UL for the lighting industry.
