AutomationDirect PLC

AutomationDirect has released three new LS Electric XGB PLC models: two 16-point 2-axis motion PLC units and a 14-point relay output model. The 2-axis PLC versions support pulse/direction control from the embedded I/O, featuring four high-speed inputs and two high-speed outputs, as well as EtherCAT motion using EtherCAT expansion modules. The new relay output PLC provides eight inputs – four offering high-speed capability, and six relay outputs supporting up to 2A per point. The XG5000 programming software for these PLCs is available in a free download that also includes the motion-centric XG-PM software.

Beckhoff Embedded PCs

The new CX5600 Embedded PC series expands Beckhoff’s machine control line with AMD Ryzen processors, additional interfaces and operating system options. The new CX5600 series currently includes two device versions, both with AMD Ryzen processors: CX5620 (1.2 GHz) and CX5630 (2.0 GHz). Beyond low power consumption, the fanless embedded PCs feature two independent Gbit Ethernet interfaces, four USB 3.0 interfaces, one DVI-D interface, a flexibly assignable multi-option interface ex-factory, and 4GB or 8GB RAM options. With an extended operating temperature range from -25℃ to +60℃ , the CX5600 series devices can be used in applications with demanding climates.

Emerson AI Automation Platform

Emerson’s Ovation 4.0 automation platform with integrated and dedicated generative AI deployment, has been trained on a secure foundation of knowledge-based data to augment workforce expertise and thought processes to enhance productivity by prioritizing and automating tasks. The platform provides predictive guidance and recommend appropriate actions to increase reliability, improve customer experiences and optimize overall operations.

IDEC PLC with HMI

IDEC Corporation has updated its SmartAxis touch family with the new FT1J Series combined PLC and HMI. This device combines a built-in full function controller, onboard and expandable I/O, and an advanced technology 4.3-in. touchscreen display, in a compact all-in-one form factor that is right sized for visualizing and automating a wide range of applications. The FT1J is ready to use and communicate right out of the box. End users configure the PLC+HMI with an integrated development environment for both PLC and HMI functions.

Omron Machine Automation Controller

The NX502 machine automation controller from Omron gives users the ability to scale up machine control to line control. Omron’s machine automation controllers have been designed to give manufacturing facilities robust safety, accurate motion and transparent control by harnessing Sysmac’s One Controller, One Connection, and One Software architecture. The controller consolidates data efficiency non-intrusively with MQTT, OPC UA and SQL, and decreases IloT implementation time by capturing multi-vendor data using native communication networks.

Siemens Controller

The Simatic S7-1200 G2 controller family offers efficient motion control for complex motion requirements with enhanced performance and scalability within the Simatic controller portfolio. It allows for more flexible machine safety solutions and increased data transparency for all basic automation applications. These controllers offer various machine safety and motion control features, as well as enhanced processing power, dedicated communication performance and more memory, and can handle up to 31 Profinet devices and synchronized program execution with Profinet IRT.

SoftPLC PLC Replacements

In response to Rockwell Automation’s discontinuation of the PLC-5, SLC-500, most MicroLogix, and RIO/DH+ products, SoftPLC Corporation provides a low-risk upgrade path for machines using these now obsolete Allen-Bradley PLC controls. SoftPLC controllers can replace the A-B PLC itself or interface a new Rockwell PLC with RIO/DH+ devices, allowing logic, I/O, wiring, HMIs and communication networks can be preserved. These SoftPLC controllers allow users to decide which parts of the system to change immediately and which to retrofit at a later time.

Wago Power Controller

The new Distributed Energy Resources (DER) controller from WAGO is a library function block with a control algorithm for voltage, frequency and reactive power control.  To ensure a reliable power system, the DER connection to the grid requires communication between the energy source and the operator, which is programmed using Codesys 3.5 software. Standards like IEEE 1547-2018 have been implemented to provide a trouble-free connection between systems. Wago’s DER specifically supports clauses 5 and 10 of IEEE 1547-2018.

Galco Smart Relay

The IDEC FL1F SmartRelay series offers versatile programmable logic controllers (PLCs) with advanced connectivity and control features. Its embedded Ethernet port supports remote programming, monitoring, and an integrated web server for seamless web-based operation without HTML expertise. The Micro SD card slot enables efficient program storage, transfer, and data logging—handling up to 20,000 lines per file. Users can leverage the free iOS/Android SmartRelay App for remote I/O monitoring and control and network up to 16 SmartRelays over Ethernet.

Weidmuller USA PAC

Weidmuller USA has released its M3000 and M4000 series of programmable automation controllers, which integrate the functionality of a PLC and a PC with a control and edge system in one device. These controllers feature Weidmuller’s patented u-OS — an open operating system installed with Codesys compatibility — as well as a universal USB-C port and a choice of two or four Ethernet ports. Other features of this series include: a modular design allows for integration of IT and OT components, and scalable functionality.
