Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association International has created an Americas Board of Directors with Dennis Brandl at the helm as chairman to address the specific needs of North, South and Central American manufacturing companies.
Issues discussed will include local regulations and laws, as well as the unique benefits and problems of the Americas free trade zones, and how these affect manufacturing practices. Brandl says a primary concern is the growing demand for the technologies driving the United States and Canada toward energy independence, and MESA’s goal is to develop that knowledge to improve and increase production processes. MESA also has been watchful of the rising costs of offshore labor, which is contributing to the reshoring of production facilities.
“The only way for the Americas to stay competitive in the global marketplace is to continue our productivity gains,” Brandl says. “The MESA Americas board will be looking at ways to expand the MESA Global Education Program to include methods and techniques for measuring and improving production in the Americas.”
Brandl is founder and chief consultant for BR&L Consulting, which specializes in manufacturing automation, operations and IT. He brings with him substantial experience in manufacturing execution systems, batch control, and manufacturing operations management. As chairman he will provide MESA with the ability to focus on the specific regional requirements and issues of its members.
At The Automation Conference in Chicago, Brandl will present “Applying IT in Manufacturing: The Good, Bad and Really Ugly.” The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15.
