Affordable Gigabit Ethernet Switch

May 6, 2009
The 12- or 24-port unmanaged NETernity CP981RC CompactPCI gigabit Ethernet switch allows users to configure the maximum number of communications ports within a single or dual CompactPCI slot.
The switch “introduces a new cost point with very attractive price/performance and port densities” says Rubin Dhillon, communications product manager at the vendor. “This is the board that will allow customers to achieve full wire-speed Gigabit Ethernet switching once out of reach because of the cost.” The Layer-2 switch provides support for 10BaseT, 100BaseTX and1000BaseT, 1000BaseSX or 1000LX interfaces. Both copper and fiber interfaces can be supported on the same switch. It supports hot-swap capability and is field-replaceable while the system is running.GE Fanuc Intelligent Platformswww.gefanuc.com800.433.2682
