SMAC Moving Coil Actuators has introduced its new LPL Series 125 low-profile electric linear actuator designed specifically for use on robot end effectors. These actuators with low centers of gravity have programmable speeds, positions, forces, ‘softland’, can track surfaces, and can act as an end effector. The LPL Series actuators utilize SMAC’s moving coil linear servo motors for control often needed for end effector applications, such as parts finishing, pick-and-place tasks and assembly operations. The programmable positions can be selected down to microns, and programmable forces range from 0.1 Newtons (N) up to 250 N. The LPL Series actuators also complete their tasks while providing real-time feedback for tracking, performance and quality control.
